On Memorial Day
May 27, 2019
the Springfield community honored
the life, service, family, and memory of
Captain
William G. Chandler
U.S. Army
Springfield High School Class of 1965
Husband, father, son, brother - killed in South Vietnam August 11, 1972
In Springfield, the focus of our 2019 Memorial Day remembrance was Captain Bill Chandler; however we also honored all the nation's and our community's fallen heroes. Since last Memorial Day, 33 of our compatriots died in war. See their faces, speak their names, remember that they too had moms and dads, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, daughters and sons, and dreams of their own. Like Bill Chandler, they had long shared lives ahead of them and memories to make.
Remember on Memorial Day and everyday all of our nation’s sons and daughters who took upon the burden of defending our nation and, as a result, gave their lives as a tribute to their complete devotion. If we don’t honor and remember them on their first Memorial Day, when will we?
Lest we forget
